Many Lutheran pastors arrived in Oregon in the 1880's, and organized a district connected with the Joint Synod of Ohio. Rev. Christian Beuchler of Portland contacted Lutherans in the Oregon City area in hopes of founding a new congregation, one of whom was seminary student L.
